The Gambia Football Federation organised a grassroots football competition for primary schools within the Greater Banjul and West Coast area. The competitions are organised as part of the Federation’s drive to develop football at that level.

The competitions within the West Coast Region continuous to gather pace and on Saturday four matches were played, producing a total of 13 goals. Kabafita Lower Basic School girls defeated their counterparts from Annie Marrie Rivier Lower Basic School 2-0 in the first game while in the boys’ category, it was sweet ravage for Annie Marrie as they won with the narrowest of margins in a five goal thriller.

Meanwhile, Jeddeh squared up with Kassakunda in both the boys and girls category. The latter won the boys’ category 2-0 but they were thumped in the girls’ version 4-0.

Elsewhere in Banjul, Wesley Lower Basic and Campama Lower Basic Schools each secured a double over JC Faye Lower Basic and St Mary’s Lower Basic Schools in both categories in matches played at the Banjul Mini Stadium on Friday.
