The President of the Republic of the Gambia His Excellency Mr Adama Barrow said he will welcome the National U-20 Team to State House in Banjul on Friday 11th May after the Young Scorpions returned to Banjul over the weekend been crowned Champions of the West Africa Football Union ( WAFU ) Final in Liberia.

President Barrow made the announcement through State House Press Office which contained his congratulatory message to the Young Scorpions and trended on social media.

‘Congratulations to our young Scorpions on their victory as the new football Champions of West Africa in the U-20 WAFU Cup of Nations in Liberia! We are proud of your performance as the only unbeaten team of the tournament. As a football fan, I am indeed happy. I renew my commitment to continue to champion sports as a means of engaging young people as well as promoting the cause of national cohesion and harmony’.

‘From me and the entire country, well done! Long live Gambia! Long live U-20!’

The Young Scorpions are set to meet President Barrow and would be accompanied by GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo and Executive Committee Members. This will be the second talk time and interface between President Barrow and the GFF.
