Gambian President His Excellency Mr Adama Barrow has congratulated the Scorpions for their dedication in the Qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nation.

Mr Barrow made a telephone call to the Scorpions camp in Franceville on Thursday afternoon encouraging Coach Tom Saintfiet and his charges to remain resolute and keep up the confidence and good ambassadorial work for the Gambia.

“I want to thank you and congratulate all of you for going this far in the Qualifier. The whole country is aware of this match and we are behind you including the cabinet”.

President Barrow speaking outside of a cabinet meeting held on Thursday also used the occasion to advise the Scorpions to maintain discipline, respect and hold to their confidence and belief that keeps the team this far.

Speaking to both Coach Tom Saintfiet and team captain Pa Modou Jagne, HE Barrow noted that the government of the Gambia has placed special priority to this match and the return leg in Banjul scheduled for Monday and assured the team of his government’s total commitment to ensuring that the Scorpions sail through to the country’s first ever Africa Cup of Nations.

“I know Aubameyang is there but am sure you guys can tackle him”, he teased. The Walidan FC and Arsenal die hard said the Scorpions should do all efforts to win in the away leg in Gabon and complete the job in Banjul on Monday.
