Monika Staab Ends Tour Of Duty

After a successful assignment in the Gambia all meant for the development of Women’s Football, the German Football expert Monika Staab is ending her two months sojourn with the Gambia Football Federation over the weekend. At a well attended Press Conference on Friday November 24th, Monika briefly highlighted that she has really enjoyed her stay in The Gambia.

During her stay with the GFF Monica has trained dozens of Coaches, Administrators, Physical Education Teachers and football players. With the help of the GFF Women’s Football Coordinator Sainey Sissohore, Monika was able to further trek the length and breadth of the country in order to have a comprehensive status of football in the Gambia.


GFF President Lamin Kabba Bajo thanked the Gambia National Olympic Committee for the commitment showed in securing the services of Monika Staab. He also thanked the The Gambia for all their efforts in facilitating the services of the Women’s Football expert to the Gambia. Mr Bajo promised Monika that some of her recommendations would be fulfilled although according to him finance is a nightmare in some areas. ‘We have learned a lot from Monika and wished that she extend her stay a little longer with us’.

Deputy Permanent Secretary Abdoulie Kah also spoke on the important leverage on Women’s Football as his Ministry of Youth and Sports takes Women’s Football as a very important structure. Speaking on behalf of the Hon Minister of Youth and Sports DPS Kah said the cultural barriers on women playing football by their parents is gradually fading off. Mr Kah thanked the German Counsel for the donated items and assured her of their readiness to take care of the items jealously.

Abdoulie Jallow Secretary General of the Gambia National Olympic Committee also made similar remarks and further thanked the German Counsellor for their government’s support to their course. She earlier on briefly outlined the cradle of the Germany-The Gambia relationship leading to the securing the services of Monika Staab.
