GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo has begun presiding over the inauguration of GFF Standing Committees after the appointment of members into the designated entities as enshrined in the GFF Constitution.

Presiding at the launch of the Security Sub Committee on Thursday 8th November, 2018, Mr Bajo first congratulated the appointed members for what he called ‘ deserved appointments’ and thanked them for accepting the offer.

He said the Security Sub Committee is one of the most important ad-hoc bodies of the GFF and thus its composition is made up of high and competent personnel whose pedigree in Security matters is unquestionable. ‘Football and Security are inseparable and for the GFF to succeed as a Federation, we count on your experience and competence to help, guide and advice us on matters regarding security’. He disclosed to the members that FIFA and CAF places high premium on match security as ‘meaningful Football cannot go without adequate security’. Mr Bajo reminded the meeting that a task-force to look into the Gambia vs Algeria Stadium over crowding will shortly submit their report to the GFF and that he believe the new reconstituted Security Sub Committee will help the Federation in this direction to avert such occurrences.

GFF 1st Vice President Alh Bakary K Jammeh also congratulated the Committee members for their appointments and said the GFF has made a very good choice ‘ because everyone in this Committee is so committed to national development’.

He described the Committee as the most important Sub sector saying ‘ it underpins everything in football’. He re echoed the Federation’s primary responsibility to develop and promote football throughout the country but quick to note that Football cannot do us what we desire without security. Mr Jammeh promised that the GFF will empower the resource bank of the Sub Committees to be able to do their work with diligence and commitment by providing them the necessary and adequate resources in the short term possible.

GFF 3rd Vice President Lang Tombong Tamba also congratulated the reconstituted Security Sub Committee for their appointments. He said the Committee’s composition is of great confidence to the GFF. ‘This is one of a kind in the GFF having to bring on board people of high security competence and trust’. He also urged them to work amicably with the GFF hence their responsibilities are crucial to the attainment of the Federation’s objectives.

On his part, Vice Chairman of the Committee Rtd Major Ebrima Kambi lauded the GFF President for the thoughtful appointments he spearheaded. He as well thanked the Football leadership for the trust and confidence ‘ you have in us’. He said the appointments are ‘ challenging responsibilities to us but we will take it and live by it’.

Kambi said the setting up of the Committee is very vital and that its importance cannot be over emphasized. ‘ All of us are into Football and we will strive to help ourselves and help our country’. He assured the GFF of their willingness and resolute stand to meeting up their expectations reposed on the team.

Lieutenant Colonel Musa Jammeh is the Chairman of the Committee and has amongst others Captain Ngum, Commissioner Omar Darboe, Ansumana Jassey,WO2 Cham Gibba, Alagi Badjie, Salifu Touray, Major Bintou Lowe  as members.
