On the occasion of World Sports Journalists Day been celebrated every 2nd July of each year, GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo has dispatched a message of congratulations to the Sports Journalists fraternity of the Gambia through its President Musa Sise on the occasion of the special day.

Mr Bajo a media friendly football Boss, said he is personally grateful to all the sports journalists who have played an important role in helping the GFF reached at this level in “our continuous march to the promotion and development of football“. Mr Bajo a well respected Gambian sports personality said he is very humbled with the contribution of sports journalists towards the promotion and development of Gambian football.

Further writing through the President of the Sports Journalists Association of the Gambia (SJAG) on the event of World Sports Journalists Day, “I join you and members of the SJAG and the entire sports fraternity on this day of celebration to commemorate the excellent services in their professional work striving towards the development of sports in the Gambia particularly football. We at the Gambia Football Federation are proud of your contribution and commitment to the promotion of football over the years and your continuous collaboration with Football House in our endeavors to develop the beautiful game“.

Mr Bajo was voted Sports Personality of the Year 2018 by the Sports Journalists Association of the Gambia (SJAG) at its yearly Awards ceremony. A feat that the GFF Boss retained until the succeeding year been cradled from his outstanding achievements in the development and transformation of football growth in the Gambia.

The World Sports Journalists Day is an event set aside on every 2nd July of each year for members of the forth estate in sports to mark the services of sports journalists for the promotion of sports. The day is earmarked for the official day of celebration because of its significance as the period when the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) was established.
