An avalanche of felicitations are pouring in at Football House for the first ever establishment of floodlights at Banjul and Serrekunda West Mini Stadiums. The two lighting projects were tested on Monday 23rd December, 2019 in a brief ceremony led by GFF 1st Vice President and Project Manager Alhaji Bakary K.  Jammeh.

Mr. Jammeh paved the way for the FIFA funded projects which, amongst others also includes the upgrading and refurbishment of six existing fields at Banjul, Bakau, Serrekunda West, Serrekunda East, Manjai and Brikama. The fields will be refurbished with the construction of new grass pitches, artificial turfs, perimeter fences and drilling of boreholes for sustainable water supply.
The Banjul and Serrekunda West Mini Stadiums were tested with beaming bright lights pointed on the main bowls of the stadia ready for GFF and beneficiaries to conduct its night matches and other engagements.
Four other fields would be constructed as part of the project and they are Serrekunda Central, Busumbala, Gunjur and the National Technical Training Center in Yundum.
The Projects, according to its Manager, are clearly defined in the National Football Development Plan (NFDP). Construction work for five other stadiums in the regions (Bullock, WCR; Kuntair, NBR; Kwinella, LRR; Bansang, CRR and Basse, URR) have also begun.
It’s the first time in the history of football in the Gambia that such mammoth infrastructure development project is taking place. These are all geared towards achieving the strategic goals of the football leadership aimed at accelerating development of all aspects of football. These range from infrastructure, capacity building, technical development and football growth.
