In its quest to build the capacities of football stakeholders on Covid-19 preventive measures ahead of the resumption of league football, the Gambia Football Federation on Friday 26th November 2020, completed a 3-day training for Physiotherapist from 1st and 2nd Div League clubs.
The training course that kicked off on Monday came to a close on Thursday 26th November 2020 presided over by the GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo. Mr Bajo said the training falls well within the aims and objectives of his Executive and at the Covid-19 period where courses and training programs are meant to prepare the stakeholders for the restart of football. “This is a historic occasion as far as the GFF medical sector is concern. I think this will be a stepping stone as it falls very well within our aims and objectives. While assuming the leadership of football in 2014, we came with a manifesto which was renew in 2018 hence our re-election into office. So this forms part of our CARM project”, he noted. He said under his leadership, the GFF will continue  to build the capacities of Coaches, Administrators, Referees and Medics (CARM) for the betterment of football in the country”.

Speaking earlier, GFF Technical Director Sang Ndong urge the participants to make sure what they learnt is implemented when they go back to their clubs. He noted that Covid-19 is still in existence and here to stay “so football must learn to live with it and the Physiotherapist have a great role to play in making sure the protocols are observe by their respective clubs and players”.
Chairman of GFF Medical Committee Dr. Omar Sey, who double as the Course Instructor described the training as productive and Intensive. He urged the participants to take home what they learned on the Covid-19 guidelines.
A participant Jainaba Bojang speaking on behalf of her colleagues, thanked the GFF for the training course meant to increase their capacities on the Covid-19 guidelines and regulations. She promised that they will go back to their respective clubs and implement what they learned. ” I want to thank the GFF for showing commitment in developing the Medical sector”.
