The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) in collaboration with The Gambia Football Coaches Association (GFCA) on Thursday 1st April, 2021 concluded the second and final phase of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) C License coaching course.

The closing ceremony of the event was held at the National Technical Training Center (NTTC) in Old Yundum and brought together 30 participants from local clubs and academies.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Sang Ndong the Technical Director of the GFF highlighted the significance of the course. While thanking the Kaba-led executive for its commitment to football development, he urged the participants to make best use of the knowledge gained.

“This is just the beginning of the circle. You have come at a time when everyone looks up to you to see a difference in the field of play. The level of football is getting higher in recent times and you now have to proof to see you break records,” he said.

Sang also hailed the commitment of his Department in the execution of their activities, describing his team as vibrant. The GFF, through its Technical Department has already produced 60 C’ License coaches in a period of just three months and Sang is optimistic of a positive impact on the national leagues.

Pa Suwareh Fye, President of the GFCA seized the opportunity to congratulate the Federation and Gambians for the recent milestone achievements for the Senior National Team and the Young Scorpions. “We are lucky to have technicians and administrators who are committed to upgrade the capacities of our coaches and this will go a long way in producing quality in our games,” he said.

Alagie Sillah, a instructor said: “It has seen an intensive course since December and I am grateful to see how far we’ve reached. We have no doubt that you will deliver well and produce quality from your respective games. Please do not go back to your old habits. You are leaving here with new habits and better prepared with high expectations, so make best use of this opportunity.”

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Abdoukarim Darboe expressed gratitude to the organisers and instructors, while assuring them of their readiness to face the challenges and deliver the knowledge gained.

Meanwhile, participants are hopeful of a pass on all the assessments to grab their licenses. Their 21 days of intensive theory and practical sessions, coupled with 15 hours on their log book is under assessment by the instructors and the Confederation of African Football to grade their work.
