Monika Staab To Wrap Up Gambia Visit With Girls Festival

Germany Women’s Football expert Monika Staab, who is currently winding up her two months stay in The Gambia, will be thrown a farewell party by the Gambia Football Federation on Saturday November 25th at the GFF Football Hotel in Yundum.

Bidding Monika a fitting farewell, the GFF will organize a Girls Festival on Saturday November 25th at the NTTC in Yundum at 10:00am. The festivities will include a training match between the National U-17 Women Scorpions and the A team of the National Women Scorpions. This will also serve as a warm up match for the Baby Scorpions to wind up their honing of skills ahead of hosting Ghana in the first leg of the second round of matches for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifier Uruguay slated for Saturday Dec 2nd in Banjul.

Monika Staab is wrapping up her two months sojourn in the Smiling Coast where she has been attached to the Gambia Football Federation to closely work with our Women’s Football Co-ordinator Sainey Sissohore on the development of the women’s game. She has accomplished a lot of projects ranging from workshops and seminars on Women’s football development. She also participated at the final edition of the FIFA Live Your Goals Girls festival in Bansang which capped off the Four-Year Legacy program for The Gambia.

Monika, 58, a former Germany international who also played for Paris Saint German and Queens Park Rangers as well as managed the Qatari national side and Women Bundesliga side FFC Frankfurt has been sent to The Gambia through the German Olympic Movement with request from the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) to help facilitate the development of Women’s Football in The Gambia.
