The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) wishes to inform its stakeholders and the general public that our Director of Marketing and Communications (CMD), Mr. Baboucarr Camara, has today presented his Master’s Degree in Sports Management certificate to the General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Lamin M. Jassey.
Mr. Camara became the first Gambian to attain a Master’ in Sports Management from the prestigious Seoul National University of South Korea, a two-year program attainable at the University, called the Dream Together Master Program. The program is sponsored by the Korean Sports Promotion Foundation. After the end of the two-year period in August, the University has finally conferred in him the certificate in recognition of his academic achievement and the ability to conduct research.
The handing over of the certificate and the Thesis title: Grassroots Sport Development Outcomes with Rural Gambian Youth, was held at Football House in Kanifing and was witnessed by the first Vice President for Administration & Finance Mr. Bakary K. Jammeh and the Human Resources & Admin Manager Dr. Demba K. Darboe.
Mr. Jassey described Baboucarr’s academic achievement as a lifetime one, expressing the Federation’s delight. He described it as an indication that the Federation is willing to support its staff in further training, which he added will be strengthened in the coming years.
“We are very delighted with your thesis title. This is a topic that is very significant to football development and it is in line with the Federation’s National Football Development Plan 2018-2022,” Mr. Jassey affirmed. “Undoubtedly, this will serve as a reference point to the GFF, the general football family and all other sports agencies. We will keep it in our library.”
Mr. Camara, a former editor of the defunct Daily Observer newspaper, is a journalist by training and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and Digital Media from the University of The Gambia (UTG). He was amongst the first cohort of the students that started the journalism program at the UTG.

For his part, Mr. Camara thanked the GFF Executive Committee through the General Secretary, as well as the GS and staff at the Secretariat, for the support rendered throughout the course of the academic sojourn. While thanking the KSPO and SNU for the opportunity, he expressed his delight in finally seeing the end of the journey.
