The Head Coach of the Gambia Women’s Scorpions Mariama Sowe says her team is concentrating more on the weekend qualifier against Burkina Faso before they may take on the Super Falcons of Nigeria. ‘ Our task now is to first concentrate on Burkina Faso before thinking of Nigeria. The girls are very confident because we know that we have a task to complete in the first leg’. Bom said the team is complete and no worries of injury at camp. ‘ I think the GFF must be commended for registering the team for the first time at Senior level. After the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Azerbaijan, we never took part in any competition at Senior level and now this is good for the girls’.

Striker Ajara Samba said they are prepared physically and mentally to win both away and home matches. ‘ The chemistry in the camp is one although we come from different clubs but we are just all together as a team’.

Both Coach Mariama Sowe and Striker Adama Tamba were speaking to Gambian journalist Momodou Bah just ahead of their weekend qualifier to Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou on Saturday April 7th at 15:00hrs.

The Women’s Scorpions took off four days in Cassablanca Morocco for a training camp where they narrowly missed 2-1 to their hosts in a warm up match to hone their skills ahead of their Qualifier to Burkina Faso. Earlier, the team had an array of test matches at home with local Women’s League clubs and to their counterparts in Guinea Bissau both home and away all to technically prepare themselves.

The team arrived in Ouagadougou on Thursday 4th April with their first training session no sooner been held and are now awaiting for the Saturday kick off at 3:00pm local time
