Wagadou Football Club will represent the Upper River in the regional triangular qualifiers as they eye a first ever promotion to the national second division championship.
This after they defeated Kuteh 2-0 in the finals of the region’s third division league. They will now face champions of North Bank, Central and Lower River regions in the qualifiers with one of the four sides to secure provincial Gambia’s annual solitary berth in the national second tier. The aforesaid three leagues are still ongoing and their championships are yet to be determined.
Two goals in each half from Amadou Jallow and Bakary Danjo was enough to secure Wagadou the title and wiped away the agonising tears from losing the championship the previous year.
Jallow, the hero of the night, gave Wagadou a dream start by drilling in a powerful shot from a 30-yard freekick. He turned to be the provider at the beginning of the before restart when his low freekick was tapped into an unguarded net by Danjo doubled tm ensure the dominant win.
