The domestic second division league will reach the halfway point with Samger and Falcons ending the first round levelled on 31 points apiece at the summit of the 16-team division.

The Cherno Samba Academy boys though ended the round at the top by pipping Falcons on a solitary goal difference. They racked in 28 goals and conceded 17 whereas the latter has scored 25 goals and conceded 15; a positive goal difference of 10.

Closely following the leading duo is Jam City who are just three points behind them in third but the gap between them and fourth is massive as Gunjur United occupies that slot, a massive eight points adrift of their Kombo South neighbours. However, Gunjur has a game in hand and should they secure three points against second from bottom Young Africans, in a yet to be determined date for the encounter, they will close the gap to within five points.

Bombada and Team Rhino are both levelled on 22 points in fifth and sixth positions respectively with the former leading through goal difference. Meanwhile, early season pacesetters PSV Wellingara and last year’s surprised package Latrikunda United are languishing at seventh and eighth place respectively both with 20 points.

Meanwhile, at the other half of the table, just three points separate ninth place Red Hawks and bottom side 2nd Infantry Battalion. The Reds have 17 points, levelled with B4U Kiang West. The 2013 Gambian champions, Steve Biko, now languishing in the obscurity of the second tier, is 11th with 16 points, same number of points with Jarra West while Immigration and Serrekunda East Bi both have 15 points. Young Africans and 2nd Infantry Battalion are occupying the relegation zone, both collecting 14 points.

The league will now take a one-week break and action resumes on Thursday 29th April, 2021.
