Ahead of the Gambia’s friendly international at home to Liberia slated for Tuesday 6th and Friday 9th August, the Head Coach of the Women’s National U-20 Team Foday Bah has been speaking to our Federation website www.gambiaff.org.
Speaking to our Communications Assistant in a chat, Bah said the build up to the friendly international match against Liberia is gaining momentum and thus the girls are up to the task.
Speaking at their Paradise Suites Hotel in Kololi, Coach Foday Bah disclosed that 24 players have already shown up for the camp. “We have all our players with us although expecting one more player shortly today to join us. We all know most of them were engaged in the finals of the schools principal’s cup. Now we have our team doctor who will assess and examine them individually both physically and psychologically to ascertain their readiness for the game’, he said.
Coming from regular trainings held at the National Technical Training Centre, the Wallidan gaffer said there will be training at the Independence Stadium to have a feel of the natural turf. ” Although most of the girls are familiar with the Stadium pitch”, he said.
Asked about his optimism of the game, he replied “I am not worried at all because most of my players are already used to such games. Everyone is happy at the camp. The game will help us know our strength and weaknesses to further prepare for the competition ahead”.
Appealing to the fans, stakeholders and Gambians, Bah said all should come out in numbers to fill the stadium to capacity hence “Women’s Football is growing at high pace. The just concluded principals’ cup tells it all”, he said.
