Week Twenty-six of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) second division kicked start on Monday with spectacular results recorded. League leaders Sporting Real continue their impressive debut campaign as they extend their lead at the top of the table to four points after a 2-0 win over Young Africans in Banjul. Sporting Real has now recorded 55 points from 26 matches while second place Waa Banjul is on 51 points with a game in hand.

Elsewhere, last week’s biggest winners Gunjur United were again involved in a high scoring game, this time they succumbed to a 4-1 defeat to Jam City in Brikama. The result sends Jambamjelly (Jam City) to 6th with 37 points while Gunjur remains in 5th on 42 points.

Meanwhile, Brufut United’s season is getting from bad to worse as they lose their latest game against B4U Kiang West 2-1 in Soma. The only side from LRR are almost certain of playing second division football next season as they opened up a 10-point gap from the drop zone. With only four games remaining while Brufut are ever closer to relegation after recording just five wins in 26 matches with 21 points earned.

Finally, Stave Biko recovered from their last weekend’s shock 1-0 defeat to Team Rhino to beat Serrekunda East Bi 2-1 at the Independence Stadium. The Bakau based outfit is on 35 points at 8th position while East Bi remains in the relegation battle as they are on 24 points, just 3 points above Brufut United with 4 matches to go.

Matches continues today with 2nd Infantry Battalion hosting 9th place Immigration at Soma, Waa Banjul will be hoping to close the gap to just a point to leaders Sporting Real when they entertain Lions of and Red Hawks will look to avoid defeat when they play an inform Team Rhino.
