The President of the Gambia Football Federation Lamin Kabba Bajo has officially opened a three day orientation seminar designed for newly appointed Regional Football Coaches at the Independence Stadium Friendship Hostel on Thursday 9th February.
The GFF President first congratulated the newly appointed coaches for the merits reserved on them and further thanked the GFF Executive Committee for living up to their promised. He said the appointment of the coaches comes at the background of the Executive assessment tour in the regions where there was ardent for the coming up with Regional technicians.
‘It is also part of our drive to decentralize football across the country as captured in our strategic development Plan’. Mr Bajo reminded the coaches about the enormous task that lies ahead of them in the regions. ‘ But i have no doubt in your abilities that you are all qualified having experiences and also been part of the domain for a long time’, he said. ‘ But let me emphasize that you must work with the Regional Football Associations and most importantly the female clubs to help them as much as possible in their programs’.
Earlier, the GFF 2nd VP and Head of Competitions Ebou Faye commended the coaches on their deserved appointments and also urged them to live up to expectation. He briefly highlighted their roles which according to him includes helping the Regional Football Associations in their technical programs and organizing Opened football tournament. He said the Opened football tournament is eye marked for all categories of boys and girls to play football. ‘ You will also be working with the schools because there are talents in the regions and they need to be scouted’. Mr Faye said the coaches will henceforth be working with the Technical Director and Staff to make their objectives achievable at the end of the day. ‘ You will also be working with all the national team coaches in their scout for players from the regions and with these assignments, it means you have a lot of work to do’.
The President of Gambia Football Coaches Association Pa Suwareh Faye also commended the coaches for the trust and confidence reposed on them but challenged them to be result oriented. ‘ Try to network and consult one another and work very hard with the RFAs so that your work will be lighter’.
The workshop will continue to orient the coaches on their roles and responsibilities in their various regions in addition to develop a mid and long term strategic development goals for the regions they served.
The coaches would use the three day program as an opportunity to also create a platform where they can interface to ease up their work with the General Secretariat.
The program is co-ordinated by the GFF Technical Director Ebrima Manneh.
