The President of the Gambia Football Federation Mr Lamin Kaba Bajo has emphasized that the proposed GFF Extra Ordinary General Assembly initially scheduled for Saturday 18th July 2020 has been postponed.
The football convergence was meant to table before delegates “Appropriation of Covid-19 Relief Funds” and ” Approve amendments to 2020 budget“.
The postponement is necessitated by the delay in FIFA releasing the Covid-19 Relief support regulations which is a requirement before approval of the Covid-19 Budget.
In light of this development, GFF President Mr Lamin Kaba Bajo has further emphasized that the postponement of the EoGA is borne out of the “delay in FIFA releasing the Relief Support regulations”. Mr Bajo was speaking to State Radio GRTS in a telephone interview on Friday 17th July 2020 where he expounded on the reasons for FIFA’s support to member Associations amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We couldn’t take any decisions because the regulations from FIFA are yet to be received and that’s the reason we have postponed the Extra Ordinary General Assembly“, he said. Bajo noted that the plan to hold the weekend event is purely an Executive decision meant to bring the football family together to discuss the proposed budget and agree as a family. “The Extra Ordinary General Assembly is our decision. It is our initiative. We are not mandated to do it as per the Constitution“.
