The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has listened with shock and consternation a statement made by Mr. Peter Gomez the Proprietor of West Coast Radio alleging the GFF of corruption and claimed that as the President of Banjul United, a first division club, they have not received a single dime from the Federation with regard to the ongoing support to first and second division clubs in the male and female categories.

Mr. Gomez made this unsubstantiated claims and allegations on Monday the 18th of December, 2018, when he was analyzing the four-year ban and a fine of D10million imposed on Mr. Seedy Kinteh, the former President of the GFF, by the Adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Independent Ethics Committee, having found him guilty of offering and accepting gifts and bribery and corruption.

The financial support to clubs began in the 2017/18 season and there is empirical evidence in our records to show that Banjul United officials received two separate payments in the amount of D75,000:00 and D50,000:00 for the previous season. Therefore, we refute in the strongest possible terms, Mr. Gomez’s claims and allegations.

However, the GFF wants to be on record to state that the statements made by Mr. Gomez on this matter either shows his dishonesty as a person, his contempt against the current GFF leadership or he isn’t aware of activities within his own club. If the latter is to be considered, then one would ask the question as to what kind of a club president is he if he isn’t aware of the day to day running of Banjul United.
