Brikama United missed the chance to go levelled on top of the domestic first division league table with Real de Banjul by drawing 1-1 with Gamtel at the Late Ousman Saho grounds in Old Yundum today.
Now two points ahead of the Sateba Boys, the Whites could still find themselves second by the time they take to the field on Sunday against Gambia Armed Forces if fourth place Falcons could beat second from bottom Marimoo on Saturday.
Gamtel opened the scoring at the half hour mark and took their lead to the break. However, Modou Lamin Nyassi’s charges responded with an equaliser just a minute into the restart for a share of the spoils.
The stalemate means Brikama has 16 points from the 10 matches it played, whereas Gamtel’s fourth straight draw sees them three points behind their Friday opponents in seventh.
Matches continue on Saturday when Marimoo plays newly promoted Falcons in Old Yumdum. Lamin Sanneh’s charges are flying high in their first ever campaign amongst the elites of Gambian football. Victory against Marimoo will temporarily take them a point above Real de Banjul ahead of the Whites’ home meeting with the Soldiers at the Live Your Dreams football grounds in Basori.
