The Gambia Football Federation on Friday concluded a week long intensive capacity building programe on Covid-19 in its preparations ahead of the resumption of football.
The training held at the National Technical Training Center brought together goalkeeper coaches from GFF First and Second Division teams and led by Sang Ndong as Course Director, Hon Alagie Sillah Course Instructor and assistant by Lamin Sambou and Alagie Amat Cham.
Declaring the five days training closed, Federation President Lamin Kaba Bajo re-echoed the importance his adminstration attaches to capacity building. “This is very important and embeds well into our aspirations on football development. It is very important that football officials have the knowledge and skills to minimize or avoid Covid-19,”. Bajo urged the participants to take the course with utmost seriousness and take their game to another level.
Speaking earlier, President of The Gambia Football Coaches Association Mr Pa Suwareh Faye thanked the participants for the discipline and commitment shown for during the course of the training. “Now, you know your TOR, I believe you can work more closely with your respective Head Coaches to make your teams better,” he concluded.
Sang Ndong, GFF Technical Director who doubles as the course Director described the course as a success and very timely “the information you got here are not only meant for you but also your teams so I encourage all of you to share it with your teams”. He further expressed gratitude to the Football Federation under the leadership of Lamin Kaba Bajo for their for insight  and commitment.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Abdoulie Gaye called on the authorities to organize such trainings annually “I can tell you that we learnt a lot during this 5 days and now that we are equipped with how football can be played during this pandemic be sure that we instill it in our teams,” he said.
The training is the second of its kind subsequent to the first training benefitted the Head Coaches of First and second Division teams. The capacity building programs will continue with the Coaches of distinguished female Coaches to follow suit.
