The West Coast Regional Football Association (WCRFA) on Wednesday 17th July, 2019 organized a day long inter schools Football festival in sibanor village, Foni Bintang karanai of the West Coast Region.

The program in collaboration with Child Fund subsidiary Foni Ding Ding Federation, a main partner and promoter of youth and children welfare in the region brought together ten schools within the three clusters who were represented by ten participants in the male and female categories.

WCRFA Coach Eduactor Amadou Demba noted that the ten schools (teams) were divided into two groups of Five teams from both categories. Demba reiterated that, the program is to complement Gambia Football Federation’s agenda in promoting grassroots football and to further create an equal opportunity for young kids in rural Communities to expose and showcase their talents without any pressure. “Football is rapidly changing and making impact and so we should therefore all take part in the development process to make the world a better place for our aspiring footballers”. He thanked the GFF, Foni Ding Ding Federation, the cluster monitors and PE teachers for making the event successful.

At the end of the program, St Anthony’s Basic School of Kanilai emerged winners after 1-0 defeat to Ahmaddiya Basic cycle of kanfenda in the boys category. Despite their lost in the finals of the boys category, the Ahmaddiya Queens were in dominance as they beat Tamba kunda school in the girls category.

The event was also attended by WCRFA 1st Vice president and head of competitions, Mr Bakary Bojang who also deputized the president of the WCRFA Abdou Karim Sey.
