A delegation made up of the Consultant, Fenta Consulting, the Contractor, Shreeji Development Enterprise, and The Gambia Football Federation, this morning visited the Soma Mini Stadium in the LRR where work has officially began for the construction of a multi-purpose pavilion for the Stadium.
The pavilion, as part of the first phase of the project, will stretch across one length of the field. It will also include a perimeter fence for the entire complex and the artificial pitch facility, dressing rooms with showers, lockers and drawers, rooms for match officials, press room and an office for anti doping as well as substitutes benches.
Ansumana Sanneh president of the regional FA commended the GFF for the project and said he has no doubt that both the consultant and contractor will do the best job because they went through and won a very rigorous and competitive bidding process.
Modou Lamin Fofana the regional youth and sports coordinator described the project as historic, noting that it’s the first of its kind in the country and LRR will forever be recorded in history as the first recipients. He said he’s very happy that their anticipation has finally become a reality.
The chief of Jarra West, Alhaji Yahya Jarjusey, expressed delight in the project and said the GFF and it’s President Lamin Kabba Bajo needs to be commended for delivering yet another project to his region. He assured them of the support and cooperation of the local community.
The Director of Planning at the Mansakonko Area Council, Ansumana Sambou, said he’s not surprised that Mr. Janneh won the consultancy, noting that he’s known him for a very long time through his best quality work. He said the project couldn’t have come at at better time.
Mr. Baboucarr Janneh the consultant said the day is a culmination of a very long period of hard work and dedication. He said the project will also include a borehole that will be connected to 10 sprinkler taps to ensure maximum water supply onto the pitch.
Mr. Devshi the contractor said they’ll use the local dwellers to work with the experts for the project, thus serving as a source of income for them. He said the construction of the borehole will begin immediately, adding that the construction work will also get underway in two weeks.
The representatives of the regional governor and the CEO of the area council and members and staff of the regional FA were also present at the event.
