The Gambia Football Federation’s (GFF) national women’s flagship domestic league competition, the first division, will resume this weekend after more than a month’s break as a result of the Muslim Holy Month of Ramadan.

The eight-team division will pick from where it left with rescheduled week three matches taking center stage starting with this Friday’s meeting between fourth place, The Gambia Immigration Services, and Brikama United in seventh at the QCity Sports Complex in Bijilo. Immigration has three points from the two matches it has so far played, having won one and lost one while Brikama United remains second from bottom without a point. That meeting kicks off at 4pm.

On Saturday, second place Red Scorpions will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season when they take on The Gambia Armed Forces at Qcity at 4pm. Red Scorpions have a maximum 6 points from two outings and would leapfrog Abuko United on the table with a win having scored a staggering 15 goals and yet to concede one compared to the current leaders’ goal difference of plus six. The Army Ladies, who also won one from two fixtures, is fifth.

Elsewhere, on Sunday, City Girls will be looking for their first points of the season when they entertain The Gambia Police Force also at the Qcity Complex at 4pm. The City Girls are sixth, without a point after two outings while the Police is third with a one hundred percent record after two match days.

Kintehs, who like Abuko, have played three matches, are at the base of the table without a point and they shipped in a staggering 16 goals and yet to find the back of the net on their own.
