A five day Coaching Course opened up on Thursday November 16th, 2017 at the Gambia Football Federation Football Hotel in Yundum convened by the GFF in collaboration with the visiting Germany’s Women’s Football expert Monica Staab.

The course eye marked for PE Teachers derived from Schools in the Greater BANJUL AREA and is expected to bring together women football coaches from the primary, junior and senior secondary schools category, with over 60% of the participants been women.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, GFF President Lamin Kabba Bajo described the course as another beginning in the long term partnership between the Gambia Football Federation and the German Olympic movement through Monica Staab. ‘This is a very important activity in the calendar for Monica and we at the GFF attach seriousness in the training program because you all know that the schools are the place where we can catch those young’. Mr.  Bajo described the schools as the breeding grounds and thus his Federation will continue to work closely with the Schools Football Association for the realization of grassroots football and particularly women’s football. ‘ I want to promise the School Football Association that the GFF values and cherish the excellent relationship that binds between us’. He reminded the PE Teachers to work closely with the GFF Regional Coaches for scouting and talent search in their respective schools.

GFF 3rd Vice President Martin Gomez also called on the PE Teachers to take the training seriously while saluting the School Football Association for their collaboration with the GFF describing it as cordial and fruitful. ‘ I am the brain child of the Association because we cannot develop football in this country without reaching out to the schools’.

School Football Association 2nd Vice President Ousman Kebbeh said his Association will continue to partner with the GFF hence a lot of benefits are derived from the collaboration. ‘ I wish to also condemn in the strongest terms the recent actions been apportioned to the GFF and the football leadership from the National Sports Council. We are in solidarity with the GFF and on behalf of my President and School Football Association, we are in terms with the GFF and we will continue to work in harmony’.

For her part, Germany Women’s football expert Monica Staab heaps praises on GFF Boss Lamin Bajo describing Mr Bajo as dedicated and hardworking. ‘ I have never seen a football President as dedicated and passionate to the course of Women’s football as Mr Bajo’. She said the course is a very important one for the teachers to share their experiences together and reach out to the ones at the school systems.

The opening program was attended by GFF Acting General Secretary Abdou Salaam Jammeh, Human Resources Manager Baboucarr Camara, Women’s Football Coordinator Sainey Sissohore and Grassroots Manager EbrimaNyassi.
