The West Coast Regional Football Association (WCRFA) an affiliate of the Gambia Football Federation has announced that its Regional League 2019/2020 Season is been declared null and void following the Covid-19 pandemic.
This follows the Gambia government’s declaration of State of Public Emergency banning all public gatherings including all sporting activities in the country. This coupled with the statement issued by the GFF nullifying the National Leagues with no champion to be crowned neither will there be any promotion nor relegation till next year.
“On that vein the West Coast Regional Football Association (WCRFA) wishes to inform our esteem members and non members alike that the 2019/2020 football league season is declared null and void. Consequently there will be no champion, neither will there be promotion or relegation till next year. The new league season is expected to commence in December 2020. However the WCRFA will endeavor to support the teams financially through the GFF in this trying time. We deeply express concern over these unforeseen circumstances and wish to thank all of you for your patience and understanding”
The Twenty teams and Three Allied Associations within the WCRFA will be provided each D10,000:00 (Ten Thousand Dalasis) totaling to D230,000:00. The presentation of the cash amount to the beneficiaries would be held on Friday 28th May, 2020 at the WCRFA Secretariat in Brikama.
