Wallidan Football Club recorded only their second win of the season with a dominant 2-0 defeat of Marimoo at Bakau’s Independence Stadium on Sunday night.

The Gambia’s record champions went into the final match day of week 15 in the domestic first division league rocked bottom, a point adrift of their Sunday opponents with both sides hoping to put further light between themselves and the drop zone with the three points.

But it was Foday Bah’s charges who won the bragging rights to move four places up to 10th on the 14-team table with 15 points. Following a barren first half, Abdoulie Manneh and Malick Jobarteh scored two unanswered goals to ensure this relegation six-pointer went in the ways of the Blues.

The goals came in the 51st and 64th minutes respectively as Manneh side footed a brilliant Salifu Ceesay through ball into the net following a swift counterattack before Jobarteh dashed any hopes of a Marimoo comeback with a powerful header to condemn their victims to the base of the table with 13 points.
