Matches continue at the ongoing West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Cup of Nations 2019 and the tournament has now reached at its quarter final stage where hosts Senegal beat Benin one nil to reach to the semi final berth while Burkina Faso and Ghana will tussle at today’s Quarter final.
After its one nil loose to Ghana, Gambia’s Home based national side will now square off with Mauritania in the Plate Quarter Finals on Friday 4th October at the Stade Lat Dior in Thies at 5pm. This will be Gambia’s second but first contest at the mini tournament reserved for knock out losers at the Wafu tournament. Other matches at the Plate tournament were Guinea 2-0 Guinea Bissau.
At its post match press Conference on Tuesday 1st October when it lost to Ghana in the Cup of Nations, Gambia Head Coach Omar Sise said he will return to technically prepare for his next opponents in the Plate tourney.
