The Gambia came from behind to equal the scoring one all when her neighbors Senegal took the lead in the second Semi finals of the Wafu U-20 tournament Guinea 2019.
The Gambia’s only goal to tally with Senegal was from striker Abdoulie Sarr after a rough start of the game as Senegal took most part of the possession for Biram Diaw to score 25 minutes after defender Moses Diatta err at the panalty area.
The Gambia mounted rapid pressure and at two minutes of added on time, stiker Abdoulie Sarr hammered the equalizer before the break which resumed to continue but without an outright winner to decide who goes to meet Mali in the weekend Final. Thus it was until at Post Match shootouts that sent the Young Scorpions out of the contest after a 4-2 loose to the Young Teranga Lions when Captain Mattar Ceesay and Abdoulie Sarr both missed their kicks from the penalty spot.
The Gambia misses the chance of recording a back to back title name on the trophy but is proud of its excellent and stellar performances at the tournament that earned Young Scorpions Captain Mattar Ceesay been twice nominated as Man of the Match, the latest been against Senegal at today’s Semi final. The Gambia will now face Sierra Leone in the tournament Third Place Play Off on Saturday 7th December 2019 before Mali and Senegal takes on each other at the grand Final.
