As part of the drive to unearth new players at the grassroots level ahead of the realisation of the National Center of Excellence, The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) continues its nationwide talent search in the form of a football jamboree in provincial Gambia.
The event, which will be held at the Federation’s sponsored Mini Stadium in Jarra Soma of the Lower River Region on 12th and 13th July, 2019, the jamboree will bring together boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 15 from the four provincial regions of the country.
The Greater Banjul version of the national talent search was held last weekend at the National Technical Training Centre in Old Yundum and it brought together school going children from schools within Banjul, Kanifing Municipality and West Coast Region. This is conducted by the Technical Department of the GFF and it is done in the form of a jamboree where the most outstanding players scouted at the recently concluded GFF grassroots football tournament are camped together and thought the basic techniques and methods of the game.
The programme is part of the Federation’s four-year National Football Strategic Development Plan that is on course to identify young talents at the schools to train them to become future national players for the country.
The programme will be coordinated by GFF Youth & Grassroots Coordinator Ebrima Nyassi and Women’s Football Coordinator Sainey Sissohore with the help of the Federation’s appointed regional football coaches and supervised by the Technical Director Mr. Sang John Ndong with human resource support from the National Teams Department.
