West Coast Region has a new champion in Tujereng Football Club after the end of their regional third division league at the weekend. They defeated Busumbala Sanjonding 2-1 in a pulsating finals played at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama.

They will now represent West Coast Region in The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) national triangular championship that brings together the champions of each of the seven administrative regions to determine the two teams that would gain promotion to the domestic second division league.

The West Coast regional third division is played by 20 teams that are divided into two groups of 10 teams each. The teams in each group play each other in two legs and the two group winners participate in the finals to determine the regional champions.

Tujereng took an early first half lead before Busumbala pulled levelled later in a very entertaining game. However, Tujereng scored again to get what would proved to be the winner in the second half to deny Busumbala Sanjonding their maiden appearance in the national triangulars.

The final was attended by Executive Committee Members of the GFF headed by President Lamin Kaba Bajo, West Coast Regional Football Association Executive Members and a cross section of football stakeholders.
