The West Coast Regional third division league entered its seventh week over the weekend with the biggest winners being Tujereng and Busumbala Sanjonding. Tujereng’s 2-0 defeat of Berewuleng saw them opened up a four-point cushion at the top of the 10-team Group A table while Busumbala also moved to within a point of first position in Group B.
Friday’s defeat left Berewuleng in second with 14 points, four points adrift of their conquerors. A win for them would’ve closed the gap to within a single point. Elsewhere in Group A, strugglers Marakissa and Sanyang United cancelled each other as they drew 2-2 in a close encounter. The result left both teams at the wrong end of the table with Marakissa in 9th with 6 points while Sanyang United is 8th on the identical number of points.
Two more fixtures took place on Saturday when Soccer Boys FC swapped places with Kunkujang Friends United on the table as the former beat the latter 2-0 to make it 13 points out of a possible 21, a point adrift of second place Berewuleng.
Action resumed for Group B as well on Saturday when leaders Gambia Civil Aviation Authority/Banjul International Airport (GCAA/BIA FC) slipped in their bid to extend their lead at the top of the table following a 1-1 draw with Gambinos. GCAA/BIA FC is on 16 points from 7 games while Gambinos have 10 points.
Busumbala Sanjonding capitalised on the leader’s slip to close the gap to within one point following their slender 1-0 defeat of Marakisa United. Elsewhere in Group B, KGH Sports drew 1-1 with Tumbul Football Club. KHG 5 has 10 points while Tumbul records 9 points.
The only game played on Tuesday saw third place in Group B Greater Tomorrow secured the biggest win of the round with a resounding 4-0 thrashing of bottom side Kombo Kerewan to sit third with 14 points, two points behind the leaders. Kombo Kerewan is at the bottom of the log with a solitary point from 7 matches.
