Gambia’s WAFU Team has safely arrived in Takoradi and upon that have on Tuesday September 5th, engaged on their first training session at the Takoradi main stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Speaking to Coach Omar Sise after training, ‘ the first session is very good and the atmosphere is fine with us. There are no injury worries and our next training schedule will be tomorrow morning because we have many teams scheduled for training at the same stadium’.
Omar said the boys are recovering well after a long haul reaching to their WAFU destination.
‘We are very focused now and our mission is to focus on our first game and from there we build.’
Also speaking after the training in Takoradi was Team Manager Pa Suwareh Faye who described the session as satisfactory and said all the boys are in good shape and ready to prove their worth on Saturday. ‘ The team is in good shape and everybody is doing well and now we want Gambians to add more prayers for the success of the team’.
The Gambia plays hosts Ghana in the tournament opener on Saturday September 9th in Elmina with the winner progressing to the group stages.
The Gambia’s Baa S Jabbie and Ebrima Jallow are also in Accra as Officials of the tournament. Mr. Jabbie is been nominated by the GFF and eventually appointed by WAFU as a member of the WAFU Disciplinary Committee while Mr. Jallow has been dispatched to the tournament by CAF as Assistant Referee.
