Ahead of the active return of the Scorpions to the international scene in a friendly with the Wild Beasts of the Central African Republic ( CAR ) slated for Friday March 23rd, Head of Coaching Team Sang John Ndong has confirmed that the first batch of arrivals are expected in Banjul on Sunday March 18th. The remaining set of players would jet to town on Monday a day before the team would move to camp.

The team will be guided by a strong coaching staff headed by Technical Director Sang Ndong to be assisted by Alagi Sarr, Mattar Mboge and Omar Ceesay. An array of youthful exuberance and experience lineup expected to make amends for the Gambia National Team.

The team according to Sang Ndong would be camped at the Football Hotel in Yundum which is a Three Star Hotel with a recent state of the earth facilities. The Hotel has a gym, playing field, admin block, dinning, clinic, conference hall and forty rooms managed by a highly experienced and qualified managerial team headed by Lamin Sanneh.

Meanwhile the Wild Beasts of the CAR are also expected in Banjul on Wednesday 20th March with a strong delegation with the return of former Scorpions Coach Raoul Savoy.

The Gambia plays the CAR for the second time in a year, both been friendly matches ahead of both countries respective qualifiers. The Scorpions first dent on the Wild Beasts was 2-0 in Rabat, Morocco during a training camp with goals from Modou Barrow and Mustapha Carayol. Friday’s friendly is part of preparation towards the Gambia’s resumption of Qualifiers in the 2019 AfCON in September.
