The Scorpions goalkeeper coach, Alhagie Marong, has congratulated the National Team for the historic achievement in securing qualification to the African Cup of Nations for the first time.
Marong, who is part of Tom Saintfiet’s technical staff during the campaign, shared his thoughts with The Gambia Football Federation’s Media Department.
“Congratulations on your outstanding achievement (the Scorpions). You deserve every bit of it. You have made us all proud having worked for it and now the result will forever remain in the history books of The Gambia,” Marong wrote.
A former goalkeeper himself and an ex-military man who was part of the Gambian contingent to the peacekeeping mission in Liberia, Marong reserved special praise for the three regular goalkeepers that he trains every time they’re on international duty.
“My best wishes are with you my able goalkeepers Modou Jobe, Sheikh Sibi and Baboucarr Gaye. Not many people have a story of their own to tell but you have a story of your own to tell and there are so many others to tell it over and over again,” he went further.
“Being part of your team is an honor to live with. I have seen all your successes and struggles behind the curtain. Congratulations, the journey still continue with Road to Cameroon 2022.”
