Football stakeholders and commentators continue to voice their calls on Gambians to turn out in numbers for the much anticipated World Cup preliminary first leg Qualifier between the Gambia ( Scorpions ) and Angola ( Palancas Negras ) at home scheduled for Friday 6th September, 2019.

Barely few days ahead of Coach Sainfiet’s Press Conference where he is expected to unveil his preparations, the latest football stakeholder to add his voice to the clarion call is the President of National Scorpions Fan Club Bai Cham. Speaking on behalf of the general membership of the Fan Club, Bai called on Gambians to come out in numbers to show love and support to their national team (Scorpions ).

In a chat with the Federation in house medium, President Cham noted with emphasis that ” every Gambian has a moral duty to come and support the Scorpions. That is a duty upon all of us and to show that as citizens, we love our country”. He said as National Scorpions Fan Club, they are bracing up very well ahead of the match. “We started our plans long time ago and put up our new ideas on how to bring a total of 5oo ( Five hundred ) fans into the stadium only for support and non stop supporting throughout”, he revealed. He said the Organising Committee of the Fan Club is coming up with new scheme “to support our team so that they feel as heroes”.

He said plans are afoot to go as far as Lower River Region and North Bank to expand the fan base so as to consolidate on the existing number. ” We will bring fans from across the country but our target for this match will be to get fans from the North Bank and LRR to come and join us so that we fill the stadium”. Bai called on all supporters to avoid coming on empty hands. ” Let everyone come in national colors, flags and whistle so that you are counted amongst fans”.

He went further to also called on His Excellency President Adama Barrow to turn up at the Stadium in his national colors to support the Scorpions. “We want to appeal to President Barrow to also come and be part of the crowd at the Stadium because this is a year for the Gambia and we can’t afford to miss either of the Afcon or World Cup,” he noted. He said the National Scorpions Fan Club is on the verge to launch ROAD TO 2021/2022 slogan and “this shows that we are serious about the Scorpions’ qualification to either of the two”.

Bai reiterated his call on all Gambians to also turn up early to avoid lateness. ” All should come early and avoid last minute rushes at the gates. For us, we will continue our camp at the Award Scheme which we always do in consultation with our honorary father General Lang Tombong Tamba before the match kicks off”.
