Gambia National Team ( Scorpions ) arrived in Luanda, Angola on Sunday September 8 ahead of the return leg for their WC 2022 preliminary Qualifier away to Angola’s Palancas Negras scheduled for Tuesday 10th September in Luanda.

Following the team’s one nil defeat in the first leg of the double header at home on Friday night to their visitors, the Scorpions have vowed for a revenge on former Afcon finalists when the two sides square off at the 11th October Stadium in Luanda on Tuesday afternoon.

Upon their arrival on Sunday morning, the team was met by scores of Gambians residing in Luanda and around to herald their bracing up for an unstoppable cheering of the Gambian team against the hosts.

Prominent amongst the receivers at the Luanda Airport was the Head of Mission at the Gambia Consulate His Excellency Hadji Jawara and Staff of the Embassy who were at hand to receive the Gambian team and delegation. Earlier on, GFF Executive Committee member Sadibou Kamaso who arrived in Luanda since Friday as advanced delegate was successful in local arrangements for the team and thus lodged the Scorpions at Victoria Garden Hotel close to the National stadium.

“The players are now relaxing after a long flight haul to Luanda via Cassablanca, but we will put up a recovery session at 4:30pm today at the training ground of the National Stadium”, Coach Tom Sainfiet noted.

The Scorpions are boosted by the presence of GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo, Minister of Youth and Sports Hon Hadrammeh Sidibeh and Deputy Permanent Secretary MoYS  Mr Sutay Jawo
