Few hours to the kick off to Gambia’s away and first leg of the Afcon 2021 preliminary Qualifiers to Djibouti scheduled for Wednesday 9th October, 2019, the Scorpions Head of Delegation and GFF 1st Vice President Alh Bakary K Jammeh said the team is awaiting their final pre match meeting shortly later before moving to Stade Gouled.
Mr Jammeh said the team is in very high spirit, relaxed and focus which according to him is the most required at the moment. Having traveled with the National team on many occasions as Head of delegation, Mr Jammeh said he is optimistic of the Scorpions putting up a good show tonight. “I am really looking forward to this game today because i am not sure that i have ever seen a mood so good and high like this before”.
He said coming back from an exit at the World Cup Qualifiers, a lot of lessons have been learnt. “Coach Tom Saintfiet has stressed the need for a very good away win going forward today so that we just have a coronation in Banjul for the home leg”, Jammeh noted.
The team will depart their Sheraton Hotel to the match ground (Stade Gouled) two and half hours before kick off.
Coach Tom Saintfiet has also noted the good mood and high spirit reposed in his charges to fight for a win in the away leg. “Everything is going well. We are a in a good mood”. He said all players look fit and the motivation is high “and the players are looking forward to the task to give us a win”. The “Saint” said the team will have their final pre match session at the Hotel where the start list would also be unveiled.
Kick off 19:00hrs in Djibouti and 14:00hrs in Banjul.
