Scorpions Coach Tom Sainfiet has disclosed his 21 man squad for the double header with Togo at a Press Conference held on Thursday 4th October that was preceded by an unveiling session shortly.
Commenting on his preparation ahead of the ties, Tom said his technical team will decide to call up some other few names because according to him ‘ we dont know what will happen in Togo in terms of injury, so we will have a group in standby’.
He said 21 players are been called as in the list but only 20 players will travel with the team for the away leg in Togo while ‘ we will start the technical preparation on Monday Oct 8.
‘The players that are not in the list are not been exempted. The selection is not against them but we are building this game in the players invited’
He said the confidence he has in the selected players is high. ‘ I have full confidence in my players that we can score goals and earn points. If we can come home with a point, we will celebrate because Benin and Algeria will drop points’.
Asked about the tight travel plans in between the away and home fixtures, Tom said his team started arranging the logistics ‘ just immediately after the Algeria match’. ‘ So i am very satisfied with the GFF’s support and coordination in this match. They have helped and continue to provide us with all necessary logistics. I think this is the best planning i can have’.
