With all of the seven regional football associations starting their domestic third division leagues, the competition for places in the national second division heats up in the Central River Region as well.

With the national first and second division leagues directly supervised by The Gambia Football Federation (GFF), each of the seven regional football associations are tasked by Football House with the organization of the third division, also representing the third highest competition in our football league pyramid.

Central River Region is the largest Local Government Area in the country and due to the logistical nightmares between the north and south bank of the region, the league is divided into two halves with seven teams participating in each of the two divisions, totaling to 14 teams.

In the northern league, Medical FC tops the table with a maximum six points from two matches and yet to concede a goal.  Banni FC and Niani FC both recorded four points in second and third respectively, separated only by goal difference.

Below the leading pact on the table is Upper Saloum and Lower Saloum, both on three points, with the later playing only one match, while Karantaba FC and Nianija FC are struggling at the bottom end of the table without a point.

Meanwhile, in the southern league, Jarreng FC leads the way with six points from the two matches that they’ve played. Bansang and Janjanbureh both recorded four points after winning one match and drawing another, while Kudang FC secured only one win out of the two matches played and is on three points.

Having played just a solitary match, Dankunku FC and Lower Fulladu FC are both on zero points and a negative goal difference of two. Niamina FC occupies the basement place with zero points from the two matches that they’ve played.
