Kunta Kinteh FC is Five points clear in Group B

The regular season in the North Bank regional third division league season came to an end over the weekend with Region United and Kunta Kinteh to contest the right to be crowned champions.

The two sides won their respective groups at the end of the campaign and will now contest the deciding match in a date yet to be determined by the organisers of the competitions, the region’s Football Association. The winner of that tie will represent North Bank in the four-team national provincial triangular, three of which will secure automatic promotion to the national second division.

Region United ended the season top of the log in Group A with 22 points, finishing just a point ahead of second place Rockland while Kunta Kinteh won Group B with the tightest of margins by virtue of their superior goal difference of three having finished leveled on 19 points with Essau United.

Mauritani finished bottom of their group with seven points while Aljamdu also occupied a similar spot in Group B with just five points from the 10 matches that each of the teams had played in the regular season.

The 12-team regional league has been divided into two groups of six teams each and they all played each other twice for a total of 10 matches.
