Real de Banjul and Hawks reunite in on Wednesday to remember their fallen hero, playing a goalless stalemate in a pulsating encounter played at Bakau’s Independence Stadium in the Late Alhaji Omar Sey Memorial Football Tournament organised by The Gambia Football Federation (GFF). The late Sey was mainly associated with Hawks but he had strong links with Real de Banjul as well.
It was a dominant performance for the Reds from start to finish and the scoreline didn’t reflect a true story of the encounter. However, in a rather tense and dramatic encounter, both teams came close to scoring the winner.
Hawks created decent scoring chances through Abdoulie Jallow and Ousman Gomez who’s, headed for Italy where he is expected to join the youth ranks of Atalanta Bergamo, but failed to hit the target. For Real, Fus de Rabat bound Pa Modou Sohna was the man they relied on for inspiration but he was given no breathing space by the Reds’ defence.
