Quite often than not that GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo would take part in national team overseas travel even though his colleagues across Africa would do. The Scorpions return leg to Angola is a stake in exception as the GFF Boss had together with the Scorpions jetted into Luanda on Sunday night ahead of the return fixture on Tuesday 10th September.
Responding to what must have prompted his inclusion in a trip he rarely involves in, President Bajo said hence the trip is a special one, ” my presence is to encourage the team and be felt and together with the Minister, it will show to the boys that there is seriousness in this game”. He noted further that having recognized the fact that away matches could be daunting especially at the highest level, “the presence of us sends signal and at the level of the Federation and government its very important because sometimes things could be difficult especially when it is a return leg and the boys have also seen us around”, he said.
Mr Bajo said since he seldom travel with the National teams, due to many reasons which include financial implications amongst others, ” I have reposed absolute confidence and trust in the personnel that represent me and the Federation at large”.
On the advance party earlier sent to cater for local logistics in Luanda, President Bajo hailed Mr Sadibou Kamaso for his exceptional dispositions in putting up logistics necessary for the team. “In fact, Sadibou has surpassed what we expected from him. He chose us a Five Star hotel at a very good rate, all visas issued and he been young and smart young man and a businessman, he could do a lot of things and this is why an advance party is been decided for this game”.
The President also hailed the Minister of Youth and Sports Hon Hadrammeh Sidibeh for his positive foresight and through him to the government of the Gambia for the commitments the government has taken in this campaign. “We are really grateful to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The Hon Minister is a calm and dedicated man, takes his time and he has been here with us throughout the journey. Am sure he will report to government about the dispositions taken and we are really hopeful that the collaboration will continue between us”.
Mr Bajo was speaking at the team’s final training session on Monday afternoon at the 11th November Stadium in Luanda where the match will take place on Tuesday 10th September at 4pm local time. The GFF President’s attendance has further attracted a local private radio station in Luanda to have him on recorded interview for his thoughts on the Tuesday game.
