Ismaila Ceesay and Modou Manneh scored in the first half to give Marimoo maximum points at the expense of Gamtel in the opening fixture of the Late Omar Sey tournament played on Tuesday June 25 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau
Marimoo dominated the opening minutes creating chances and took the lead in the 11th minutes after a cool free kick 25 yards away that went in leaving Musa Camara unmoved in the Gamtel goal as they kept on their high pressing game on the Gamtel defense. They double their lead in the 37th minute through striker Modou Manneh who benefited from a sloppy defending by Gamtel center back Buba Jarju as the latter tried to play his way out of defence when he was quick on his toes and dispossessed to set himself face off with Musa Camara and eventually slotted the ball home to give the Manjai based side a 2-0 lead going to the break.
Gamtel came out from the locker room with renewed determination dominating possession and creating numerous chances but Marimoo defended very well as they were reduced to 10 men after Ebrima Joof received a second yellow five minutes after the restart.
Elsewhere in the competition in Brikama, the home side lost 1-0 to The Gambia Armed Forces.
Matches continue on Wednesday with Group B taking center stage as Fortune host GPA at the Box Bar and FF Cup winners Real De Banjul entertain Hawks in Bakau.
