Gambia U-17 Head Coach Abdoulie Bojang has reacted to the WAFU Zone A U-17 draw held on Monday July 30th in Dakar. The Gambia is pitted in Group B alongside former Champions Mali and Liberia in a Group described by pundits as Group of death.
‘Despite the draw, we have been preparing very well for the tournament. When you are getting into the competition, you prepare for all the teams that have qualified and for us as a team, we are working very hard to prepare both tactically and technically’.
According to Lie, the primary objective of the team is to build their capacity and develop the players and next to qualify for the CAF Tournament.
‘ We will find out our opponents’ weaknesses and strengths and how to overcome them. We will try to be better during the course of the match period but i must say that we have to be cautious because the players are from different clubs with different approach but we will try to put our philosophy into them and apply it in the competition’.
The WAFU Zone A draw was held at the Senegalese National television Studios in Dakar attended by Senegalese FA President Augustine Senghore and other high Football authorities including the Secretary General of WAFU Zone A Jammeh EK Bojang.
The Gambia is pitted in Group B with Liberia and Mali while Group C involves Mauritania, Guinea and Cape Verde and hosts Senegal welcomes Guinea Bissau and Sierra Leone.
WAFU now says the tournament will be played in Stade Alassane Djigo in Pikine and Stade Ngalandou Diouf in Rufisque.
The tournament finalists will qualify automatically to the Total Africa U-17 Tournament Tanzania 2019.
