West Coast Region outfits Kintehs and Brikama United are set to push the tittle challenge for the women’s second division league down to the wire with the two teams currently tied on 39 points with three matches remaining. This followed their respective impressive wins over the weekend.

Kintehs, who led on goal difference, on Sunday 5th May 2019 regained top spot following their 3-0 hammering of third place Berewuleng. Kintehs went into the crucial game with the knowledge that only a win was required to leapfrog Brikama from the summit following the latter’s equally solid 3-1 defeat of arch rivals Greater Tomorrow 24 hours earlier. Having played 18 matches each, Kintehs edged Brikama with their positive goal difference of +23, compared to their rivals’ +15.

Elsewhere in the women’s second division on Friday 3rd May 2019, two matches were played and both matches ended up in draws. Raptim in sixth place were held by second from bottom Jeshwang United goalless. The two teams are levelled on 18 points each from as many matches, an average of one point per match.

Also on Friday, bottom side Jam City held 4th place Future Bi to a 1-1 stalemate to record just their second point of a disastrous campaign in which they earned a disappointing two points from a possible 54. Future Bi on the other hand will feel it was an important two points they let slipped away as they continue their chase of the leading patch. They remained in fourth, levelled on points with Berewuleng on 31 points each, 8 points adrift of the leading duo.

The league has now taken a Ramadan break and the three remaining matches will be played following the end of the month’s long fasting to determine who will be crowned champions of the first division with a place in the top flight at stake.
