GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo has added more weight to Tom Saintfiet’s scouting mission on European based Gambian players. The Scorpions Coach flew from his base in Belgium on Monday January 21st 2020 and connected with President Bajo in Italy where the two began the week long trip to Gambian born Ebrima Darboe in AS Roma Italy. Darboe midfielder with the Serie A side will be watched on Wednesday 22nd January 2020 at his team’s training.

As part of the itinerary, Bajo and Saintfiet will proceed to visit Musa Juwara and Musa Barrow at FC Bologna later in the afternoon on Wednesday. Barrow joined his compatriot Juwara from Atalanta last week making him the second Gambian in the ranks of Bologna.

President Bajo and Coach Saintfiet will continue the scouting trip in the coming days where they are expected to meet with Gambian players across Europe. This vital itinerary will avail the GFF President to interface with the players at their respective clubs and to further share a platform with their club officials.

Mr Bajo recently made an important breakthrough when he signed on behalf of the GFF a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Spanish Football Association in the areas of technical assistance, training camp for Gambia National Teams, capacity building programs for Coaches etc at a visit he jointly made with the GFF 3rd Vice President Rtd Gen Lang Tombong Tamba to Saudi Arabia where they were been invited as guests to the Spanish Super Cup Final. Both Bajo and Gen Tamba visited Scorpions Goal keeper Modou Jobe at his Jeddah Club during the Saudi visit.

Meanwhile the Gambia resume the Afcon 2021 Qualifiers in March away to Gabon as CAF revised the schedules for the Qualifiers that were previously dated to resume in August. This is necessitated by CAF’s decision to play the Total Afcon Cameroon 2021 tournament from January to February.
