Interior FC have again secured yet another coveted trophy as Winners in the Gambia Football Federation Women’s FF Cup Competition in a pulsating finale over the weekend at Sere Kunda East.
The Security outfit came off against League Champions Red Scorpions in a match renewing their rivalry in a classic derby dubbed as the biggest game in Gambia’s Women’s Football Competition.
After a barren full time period though Interior scored a lone goal but disallowed as adjudged to be offside, Red Scorpions piled up a little pressure to thwart an Interior dominance of possession as Coach Choro Mbenga effected a few intros all for goal searching.
Full time ended goal less and post match shoot outs claimed victory for Interior at 4-3 when Kumba Kuyateh missed for Red Scorpions but also for Isatou Jallow to woefully stagnate Interior to level with Red Scorpions after she piled away her winning chance. But Metta Sanneh took control and finished hitting the coffin thus ending the nerve wrecking wait at 4-3 for Interior FC.
Interior now claimed supremacy in the Women’s domain winning the coveted trophy three times on the trot. They received a giant trophy, medals and cash reward of One Hundred Thousand Dalasis ( D100,000:00 ) while Red Scorpions were commiserated and consoled with medals and cash amount of Seventy Five Thousand Dalasis ( D75,000:00 ) but can be proud of Adama Tamba voted as most outstanding player of the Competition. The record goal scorer scooped a cash reward of Eight Thousand Dalasis ( D8000:00 )
