The curtains will be drawn on the Inter Lower Basic Schools football tournament in Banjul on Monday April 15, 2019, when Muhammedan and St Joseph’s face off in the girls’ category while Campama and Albion battles it out in the boys’ version. The final will take place at the Banjul Mini Stadium (KG5).

After three weeks of intensive football, the capital will host the final convergence of the GFF/PetroGas grassroots football tournament where school children have been engaged on football matches in a competition amongst selected schools in Banjul meant to enhance grassroots football development and to further rekindle back hey days of school football.

Muhammedan will lock horns with St Joseph’s Lower Basic School in the girls’ final in what would be a rematch of Group B as the two teams met earlier at the group stages of the tournament. Muhammedan finished top of the group on 13 points, three more than rivals St Joseph’s who finished a close second with 10 points. Fans favourite Oumie Sonko of Campama Lower Basic scored 9 goals, been the leading goal scorer and nominated the most outstanding player of the tournament.

Campama Lower Basic School will play Albion in the boys’ final in what promises to be an intriguing finale. Both teams are unbeaten in this year’s tourney. Campama earned 16 points from 6 matches finishing top of Group A while Albion similarly came first in their Group B with 14 points from 6 games. Campama has 28 goals in 6 games while Albion netted 13.
