The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) in its drive to build the capacity of all the players of the domestic game, would this weekend organise a referees’ intermediate training course for our men in black in regional Gambia.

The four-day event, which will be held between the 17th and 21st July, 2019, in Jarra Soma of the Lower River Region (LRR), will bring together participants from the host region as well as the Central River Region (CRR). The training is done in collaboration with football’s world governing body, FIFA, as part of its Forward 2.0 Referees’ Development Program requirement.

The Referees Manager of the GFF, Mr. Seedy Manneh, disclosed that the idea and motive of the capacity building is to enhance the effectiveness and competence level of the referees at grassroots and regional football levels. “We intend to have 10 training programs across the country. We’ve already held the basic training for the Kanifing Municipality and Banjul but the intermediate will start with LRR, CRR then later we proceed to Upper River Region (URR) and North Bank Region (NBR) before finally coming back to finish up with Banjul and Kanifng”, he explained.

Mr. Manneh further stated that 25 participants are expected to attend the training at each region and this will include both male and female referees.
